Goodbye Utah, and goodbye to our Boozer for 18 months, and to our ohana, who are so supportive. Mahalo.

Well, it's near the end of the wonderful world of the MTC. We will have tomorrow to wrap up our intense training. I believe it's because of the holiday on Thursday that our training has been crammed in tight so we can fly out on Friday. We have loved every minute of our sessions at the the MTC. We have rubbed shoulders with an army of missionaries, who are going all over the world. They are valiant, and we hope that we will be just as valiant. Aloha

Honolulu, HI Mission CES

We received our letter on October 28, with Pres. Monsen's signature on it. Our mission started November 17, 2008, as we reported to the MTC for training, along with about 38 other couples. They were going everywhere.
We had been in contact with the CES in Salt Lake, and they asked if we could be ready by Noember 17. We were so naive. We said yes, not realizing how much had to be done before we could be ready. I retired from BYU on Nov. 14, we spoke in church on the 16th, and we were set apart on the 16th by President Mark Ivins. Jay's brother Roy and sister-in-law Christine were present, and mom McQuivey too. Beth and Neil Miller(Jay's golf buddy) also came along for our setting apart.

I would like to try doing just a mission blog from now on.
